ERC Consolidator Grant Aleksandr Ovsianikov

In Nov. 2017, Aleksandr Ovsianikov from TU Wien has been awarded his second ERC grant. He is developing methods for artificially creating biological tissue. Using a 3D printer, based on multiphoton polymerization, minute structures can be created containing tissue components that are each made up of many cells.

OEGBMT price for Elise Zerobin

Elise Zerobin was awarded the first price in the OEGBMT contest (Austrian Society for biomedical engineering) for her diploma thesis dealing with hydrogels based on hyaloronic acid. The price was awarded in October 2017.

Award for TU Wien spinoff

Cubicure GmbH, a recent spin-off from our group, was awarded the Vienna Start-up Star award Merkur 2016 of the Vienna chamber of commerce.

3D-printing and Additive Manufacturing Technologies (AMT)

We are a team of mechanical engineers, materials scientists and chemists, headed by Prof. Liska, Prof. Ovsianikov and Prof. Stampfl. Our goal is to do research in the field of lithography-based Additive Manufacturing Technologies (3D-printing). Although our focus is on materials, we aim at covering the complete process chain from initiators over thermosetting polymers to system design and development and thermomechanical characterization of the obtained parts and materials.

Education and Research

One key topic of research is related to using 3D-printing in the context of digital dentistry. The AMT-team at TU Wien is thus closely related to the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Photopolymers in digital and restorative dentistry. In addition, ground-breaking basic research is performed within the ERC starting grant LeBMEC.
